Located just off of Hwy 26 - at the Brookwood/Helvetia exit (one exit west of Cornelius Pass) - we are just 14 minutes from downtown Portland and easily accessed anytime you are on the Sunset Freeway, or driving to the beach or the Coast Range. We have 15 refrigerated doors of hard-to-find bottled beers that almost no stores on the west side of Portland are stocking.
All of our beers and meads are hand-picked by Douglas, John or myself for nothing-but-quality inventory. Our staff is knowledgable and friendly and we can help you pick out beers that you might like based on other beers that you have enjoyed. Or we can recommend things that you might want to experiment with for the first time. We have a great selection of Belgian beers, sour ales and imported beers from around the world - as well as hundreds of domestic ales and lagers from the Northwest and all around the United States,
Beers
As of July 1, 2011 we have over 350 different beers in stock, and expect to have over 400 varieties by early Summer. Stay tuned for a complete listing of beers in stock.
We also do growler filling at the warehouse location. Growlers are half-gallon jugs that we can fill with whatever beer we have on tap that day. Check our Facebook Page for an updated listing of what kegs are now being tapped and what is coming up. You can also e-mail me if you ahve any requests.
We sell empty growlers and lids for $5.79. You can also bring in your own empty growler and we will fill it.
Most of the beers on tap we sell for $9.00 per growler-fill.
We also fill Cornelius kegs (five gallon kegs) at the warehouse. You must bring in a pre-sterilized, cleaned Cornelius keg and we will fill it by the next morning. Most of the Corny fills go for $57.95, but may go up or down depending on the beer being tapped. Call or email for the latest update. We also take requests for Corny fills if you want something in particular.
Meads
Meads are wines made from fermented honey, not grapes. They are the oldest alcoholic beverages known to Man. We have a very extensive selection of bottled meads. Due to supplier and distributor availabilty (we wipe out their stock periodically!), our selection goes from ten or twelve different types, to over twenty-five. We are constantly looking for more quality meads to add to our selection, but we do not get all the meads we find: many are not up to our quality standards and we decline to stock them.
Stay tuned for an updated list of all of our meads, or come by the Mainbrew Warehouse to see our entire selection.
We have SOLD OUT of oall of our mead-making classes to date. We will be having another class in August, so let us know if you want advanced notice of sign-ups. . Doug will be going over proper fermentation techniques, including aeration and nutrient additions, as well as yeast selection and different types of honey.
There will be a mead-tasting after the class of at least four hand-picked commercial meads.
